Katina Rankin and Dr. Marcus Reeves nominated for Best in Black Memphis Awards
Two Alcorn State University alumni were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in their careers.
Katina Rankin ’95 and Dr. Marcus Reeves ’92 are nominated for the Best In Black Memphis Awards. The winners will be announced during the Best In Black Carpet-Black Tie Event Saturday, Aug. 26 in Memphis, Tennessee. The mission for the Award ceremony is to celebrate African-American owned and operated businesses and professionals in the Mid-South.
Rankin is a news anchor for WANT-TV (ABC) Local 24 in Memphis. She is also the author of the children’s book “Up North, Down South: City Folk Meet Country Folk.” She is honored to be mentioned among some of Memphis’ premier professionals.
“I am humbled to be nominated for the Best In Black Memphis Awards,” said Rankin. “To be in the category with other great journalists that I admire and respect is humbling. I would like to thank those who nominated me and supported my nomination.”
Dr. Marcus Reeves is a family medical doctor at Apex Primary Healthcare in Memphis. Reeves has been in the medical field for 21 years, and is affiliated with Methodist University Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital – Bartlett. When nominated, he was happy to be recognized among other individuals whose goal is to strengthen the city of Memphis.
“I’m honored to be nominated because it shows that the people in our community recognize that we are trying to better our community,” said Reeves.
