Alcorn Extension to Host annual Fall Vegetables Field Day, Mound Bayou Demonstration Farm
Are you eager to learn new ideas for planting fall vegetables?
If you answered yes, then attend the annual Fall Vegetables Field Day, Thursday, September 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alcorn State University Extension Program Demonstration Farm and Technology Transfer Center, 294 Grainger Dorsey Rd., Mound Bayou, MS.
The event, sponsored by the Alcorn State University School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, is free and open to the public. No pre-registration required.
Researchers and Extension staff — from Alcorn State University, the United States Departments of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation, and Agricultural Research Services — will be on hand to present current research findings, describe demonstration plot results, and respond to questions, according to Dr. Franklin Chukwuma, interim assistant extension director.
Topics will include Soil Health as it relates to Crop Production, Organic Sweet Potato Production Practices, Benefits of High Tunnel Production, Crop Rotations for Sustainable Vegetable Production, Integrated Pest Management Practices, Farm Management and NRCS Programs.
