Annual Alumni Day set for November
Saturday, Nov. 4 has been designated for Alcorn State University School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences Alumni Day. The School’s annual alumni gathering will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the Conservatory Room in the Ecology and Natural Resources Building on the Lorman campus, according to Dr. Gwendolyn L. Gordon, director of the School’s Office of Alumni and Staff Development. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m.
According to Gordon, the purpose of Alumni Day is more than just old friends reconnecting. The event also helps to bridge the gap between the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences and alumni, facilitates dialogue about the importance of committing to our students and establishes and rekindles active partnerships.
Speakers will include Dr. Edmund Buckner, dean and director of land-grant programs, as well as Dr. Victor Njiti, interim chair, Department of Agriculture; Dr. Martha Ravola, interim chair, Department of Human Sciences; Dr. Jeremiah Billa, interim chair, Department of Advanced Technologies; Dr. Keith McGee, director, Center for Biotechnology; and Casnacita Gray, student recruiter.
