Alcorn State University to host Delta Regional Authority Listening Session

Alcorn State University has partnered with Delta Regional Authority (DRA) to host its upcoming Listening Session. The session will be held on Thursday, October 27, from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Medgar Evers Library Auditorium on the Lorman campus. The event is open to the public.

President Joe Biden appointed Dr. Corey Wiggins, a 2003 graduate of Alcorn State, as DRA federal co-chairman.

The listening session will serve as a tool to strengthen the relationship between DRA and the communities they serve, especially traditionally underserved communities that have not engaged much with federal agencies. Wiggins' goal for the session is to create a feedback channel that allows the agency to connect communities to resources and streamline DRA’s internal processes to enhance and improve service to community members.

The Delta Regional Authority works to improve regional economic opportunity by helping to create jobs, build communities, and improve the lives of the 10 million people who reside in the 252 counties and parishes of the eight-state Delta region. Established in 2000 by Congress, the Delta Regional Authority makes strategic investments of federal appropriations into the physical and human infrastructure of Delta communities. Through the States’ Economic Development Assistance Program, these investments help to improve transportation and basic public infrastructure and to strengthen our workforce development system and local business environments.
