News students from across the country began their college education at Alcorn State University during an annual semester event.
The University hosted the 2023 Spring New and Transfer Student Orientation Thursday, Jan. 12, in Dumas Hall.
President Dr. Felecia M. Nave was excited to welcome the new students into the Alcorn family.
“Alcorn not only gives you a quality education but also, we embody what is family,” said Nave. “We continue to work as a dynamic family to ensure that your experience here is memorable and helps you grow educationally and professionally. This way, you will be confident and prepared to take on your next journey.”
Dr. Ontario Wooden, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, gave the students a glimpse into life at Alcorn.
“You’ll make plenty of friends along your journey,” said Wooden. “You’ll get opportunities to participate in internships with several corporations to help you succeed at Alcorn and beyond.”
The event continued with several breakout sessions with Alcorn’s academic deans and faculty before visiting Follett, the Alcorn Bookstore.
