Alcorn’s Center for Conservation Research set to distribute over 10,000 muscadine grape cuttings to farmers

The Center for Conservation Research in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences at Alcorn State University will distribute vine cuttings from two highly adapted varieties of Muscadine grapes — Dixie and Summit, to farmers on Feb. 29 – Mar. 1 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. in the Ecology and Natural Resources Building.

The cuttings are free of charge, 4 to 5 feet long, and can be planted or used to establish nurseries.

Farmers will also receive training on clonal propagation and organic nursery establishment during distribution.
