Brittany Brown-Simpson, administrative assistant in the Office of the President at Alcorn State University, has been selected for the inaugural Vicksburg Post Top 20 Under 40 award.
The Vicksburg native was nominated anonymously and voted among the top young professionals making an impact in their workplace and community.
“Being nominated anonymously and then voted to be part of the 2025 Top 20 Under 40 was not just a surprise, but a moment of profound honor,” said Brown-Simpson. “This recognition has not only validated my efforts but also inspired me to continue making a difference.”
In her role at Alcorn State, Brown-Simpson provides support to the university’s chief of staff and president. She has assisted by providing support for major university events, including President Tracy M. Cook’s inauguration and the university’s commencement exercises.
“I particularly enjoyed participating in Dr. Cook’s inauguration, where I had the opportunity to contribute to the event’s execution,” said Brown-Simpson. “I always find the commencement exercises to be very meaningful and inspiring because they celebrate the students we serve and their future endeavors. These events, along with my daily work, remind me of the profound impact we can have on the lives of our students and the future of our community.”
Beyond her university duties, Brown-Simpson founded Bless’d Beyond Beauty, a Christian ministry focused on uplifting individuals and spreading the Gospel through outreach activities. The ministry emphasizes empowerment and purpose, particularly among women.
Brown-Simpson’s leadership philosophy centers on authenticity and service. She advises emerging leaders to “stay grounded and positive” and maintain perspective on what truly matters.
“My goal is to show up every day with intent and to make a meaningful impact,” she said. “While achievements are important, I believe that authenticity, professionalism, and kindness form the proper foundation of leadership.”
The recognition highlights Simpson’s dual commitment to professional excellence and community service. She views her role at Alcorn State as more than employment.
“My role at Alcorn State University is not just a job, but a privilege, and I am thankful for the opportunities it has given me to grow and contribute,” said Brown-Simpson.
