Alcorn State University resumed normal operations at 12 p.m. today following email threats received by several historically Black colleges and universities, including Alcorn.
The University’s emergency management protocol was activated immediately. There is no ongoing threat, and campus is secure. The matter is being handled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Heightened security measures remain in place along with restricted access to campus. Students, faculty and staff must present their Gold Card upon entry.
The safety of our campus community is our highest priority. We are grateful for the prompt response from law enforcement and the cooperation of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni during this situation.
The University thanks the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Office of Homeland Security, Mississippi Highway Patrol, State Fusion Center, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and Campus Police for their response.
