Alcorn State University and the ASU Foundation Inc. will host Purple and Gold Day 2026 on Feb. 17 at the Mississippi State Capitol Building in Jackson, Miss.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. with an overview of the university’s 2026 legislative priorities and issues affecting the institution. Alumni serving in the Mississippi Legislature will deliver remarks, along with other state senators and representatives.

“Purple and Gold Day is a powerful opportunity for Alcorn State University alumni and supporters to unite at the State Capitol and highlight the value, impact, and contributions of the university to the entire state of Mississippi,” said Dr. Marcus D. Ward, senior vice president for institutional advancement and legislative liaison. “We look forward to Alcornites engaging with our state leaders to reinforce how sound public policy and funding decisions sustain a strong university that expands economic opportunities and ensures future generations of Mississippians are prepared to compete and succeed in the workforce.”

The day’s activities will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST. Attendance is free and open to all alumni and supporters.
