Alcorn State will host its annual Fall High School Day on the Campus Green this Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
High school juniors, seniors and transfer students will get to experience firsthand why the institution is the highest ranked HBCU in Mississippi according to U.S. News & World Report.
“We are excited to welcome our future Braves to campus to show them what awaits them,” said De’Martinez Simmons, director of admissions and recruiting. “High School and Transfer Day is about more than just visiting the Alcorn campus. It’s a chance for prospective students to experience our atmosphere and see how Alcorn can set them on a path to success.”
The one-day event, themed “See It. Feel It. Always Alcorn,” will showcase the university’s leading academic programs, vibrant campus life and financial aid options.
Attendees will tour facilities, speak with faculty and current students, and gain insight into the campus culture that defines the Alcorn experience.
The event will feature four key experiences:
- A first look at Alcorn’s academic programs across disciplines that lead directly to careers upon graduation;
- Campus exploration and student life showcases, giving visitors a beautiful view of residential life and the campus community including the universities’ four lakes, walking trails, Medgar Wiley Evers Heritage Village Residence Hall, and many other sites.
- Dedicated financial aid information sessions explaining scholarships, federal aid and other university funding options that make Alcorn affordable;
- Live entertainment, including the Alcorn Braves football team taking on Texas Southern University, performances by the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite marching band and the World Renowned Golden Girls.
