The Alcorn State University Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite Marching Band (S.O.D) will perform at the 2026 Big HBCU Southern Classic Battle of the Bands on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 5 p.m. at Bojangles Coliseum.

The event marks a significant showcase for the university as the band joins a lineup of 10 elite historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in an indoor arena setting designed to amplify the musical precision and pageantry of HBCU band culture.

“This event presents a unique opportunity for our students to perform in an arena setting, intensifying the energy and connection with the audience,” said Dr. Everson, director of university bands. “We are honored to represent Alcorn State University and showcase the excellence of the ‘Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite’ alongside such prestigious programs.”
