First Year Experience Program holds Choosing a Major/Career Preparation Workshop
The First Year Experience Program hosted a Choosing a Major/Career Preparation Workshop Thursday, November 7, 2013, in the Biotech auditorium. Ms. Wanda Stanwood and Mr. Harold Spencer, academic advisors in the Academic Advising Center, were the presenters for the workshop.
Dr. Patricia White, Program director, stated, “The workshop was designed to provide first-year students with important information on how to implement a career plan and how to help connect careers with majors.”
The First Year Experience Program is designed with new students in mind and carries the experience of orientation throughout the year. “Drive – the road is yours! Which direction will you take?” is the theme that has been adopted for all freshmen workshops sponsored by the Program.
In an interview held after the workshop, Regina Stewart, a junior from Natchez, Mississippi, shared, “I really enjoyed the workshop and learned that to become successful, I need to chose a career that makes me happy. I would recommend the Career Planning Workshop to all students that are interested in learning about how to choose a career plan that is the right fit for them.”
