The opportunities for Alcorn State University students continue to expand thanks to donations from Alcorn's faculty, staff and alumni.
The Presidential Scholarship Gala was held Thursday, April 16 at the Vicksburg Convention Center in Vicksburg, Miss. The purpose of the scholarship gala was to raise funds that would create more financial opportunities that would enable Alcorn students to have a successful college career. The event was held in conjunction with the inauguration of Alcorn State University’s 19th President, Dr. Alfred Rankins Jr.

“Many of you have reached deep into your pockets to support Alcorn, and for that, we are grateful,” said Ward. “It is your kindness that has helped make tonight and all of the inaugural events enjoyable and memorable.”

He is willing to pass down the elements of Alcorn’s culture to generations to come. His excellence demonstrates how he’s willing to be innovative and excel at his job.”
Alcorn President Dr. Alfred Rankins closed the gala by staying persistent in advocating for the assistance of Alcorn’s students.
