Meridian/Lauderdale Alcorn Alumni Chapter believes in giving students opportunities
Alcorn State University’s faithful alumni continue to garner support for the University’s students.
The Meridian/Lauderdale Alumni Chapter of Alcorn State University held its annual Purple and Gold Scholarship Banquet Friday, April 24 at the MSU Riley Center in Meridian, Miss. The event raised more than $30,000 to provide financial support to Alcorn students.
President Alfred Rankins Jr. was the keynote speaker. He addressed more than 300 attendees on the spirit and growth of Alcorn, and what the alumni can do to ensure the success of the institution, and his vision for the University.
The Chapter also awarded seven students scholarships during the event. Wilbert Jones, president of the Meridian/Lauderdale Alumni Chapter of Alcorn State University, presented Dr. Rankins with a check, which will also be used to provide scholarships in various academic departments.
