Dr. Renardo Murray salutes graduating band members with token of appreciation
Alcorn State University director of bands and assistant professor, Dr. Renardo Murray, gave his graduating band members a memento to highlight their final year in the “Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite.”
Murray gave 27 graduating band members purple and gold lettermen jackets to commemorate their band career. He showed his appreciation to the seniors and gave them sound advice for their transition to life after college.
“I wanted the senior band members to have a memento that they could be proud of,” said Murray. “I wanted to reward them for their hard work and dedication. Thank you for your service to Alcorn and the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite. Go out there and change the world.”
Alexander Taylor, a Shreveport, La. native shared her excitement.
“I was amazed,” said Taylor. “I think it is a great token to receive after marching in the band.”
Nathaniel Dixon, a Lorman, Miss. native who earned a bachelor’s degree in applied science, expressed his feelings for participating in the band.
“The band is an organization that allows the students to be a family as we display leadership and musicianship,” said Dixon.
