Annual Sweet Potato Jamboree at Alcorn State, Mound Bayou Demonstration Center
From farmers to consultants, and any others interested in Mississippi agriculture will have an opportunity to hear about the creative results of current research and demonstration projects during the upcoming Sweet Potato Jamboree. The event will held at the Alcorn State University Extension/Research Farm and Technology Transfer Center, 294 Grainger Dorsey Road, Mound Bayou, MS on Thursday, September 24, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The event, sponsored by the Alcorn State University Extension Program, is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required.
Researchers and extension staff from Alcorn State University, Mississippi State University, and both the United States Departments of Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Agricultural Research Service will be on hand to present current research findings, describe demonstration plot results, and respond to questions, according to Dr. Franklin Chukwuma, coordinator for off-Campus Centers.
Topics discussed will include Soil Health, Low Cost Irrigation, Pollinators, Integrated Pest Management, Financial Farm Management, Shiitake Mushroom Production, Amaranth Grain Production: A Specialty Crop for Mississippi and NRCS Programs.
