Natchez Convention Center to Host Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative Conference

Natchez, Mississippi is playing host to the 2nd Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative Conference, September 15 -16, 2015 at the Natchez Convention Center.

The conference, sponsored by the South Area Grazing Land Conservation Initiative (GLCI) Committee, a Conservation Grazing Lands Initiative of the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), is inviting all livestock producers of South Mississippi to attend, according Conference Chair Robert Collier, and NRCS Area Conservationist Wesley Kerr.

“This conference will afford participants a golden opportunity to learn more about prescribed grazing, grazing management systems, layout of grazing management systems, the economics of different enterprises, such as dairy enterprises, small ruminant animal, and beef cattle enterprises,” Kerr said.” “It will help those who are considering going into one or more of these enterprises from an economic standpoint.”

The Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative Committee is hosting this event to maintain, improve the management, productivity, and health of the state’s privately-owned grazing lands in South Mississippi.

“The livestock industry in South Mississippi, and in Mississippi as a whole, is an important part of agriculture in this state,” he said. “In order for producers to have the latest technology designed to make their operation much more profitable, attending this conference will give them better insight, better management, and better knowledge of issues regarding their operation.“
