Magnolia Bluffs Casino enters three-year partnership with Alcorn Athletics

Magnolia Bluffs Casino and Alcorn State University Athletics announce a three-year partnership.

During the duration of the partnership, Magnolia Bluffs Casino will provide Alcorn Athletics with $25,000 per year for a total of $75,000. Kevin Preston, president of Premier Gaming group, is looking forward to the Alcorn athletics and academic collaboration.

“Our team at Magnolia Bluffs Casino is proud to be a sponsor of Alcorn State University from both an athletic aspect and more importantly, academically,” said Preston. “We feel there is a lot of potential to not only partner during the athletic season, but also foster those relationships into the classroom. We truly need an avenue for graduates once they graduate. Gaming is such an important aspect of the Mississippi landscape as well as in Natchez. It would be a great opportunity for job creation.”

Officials from each party met Wednesday, August 26 to confirm the partnership. Athletics Director Derek Horne acknowledged that Alcorn will provide courses in gaming and hospitality management and its students will have valuable internship opportunities. At Alcorn sporting events, Magnolia Bluffs Casino will receive sponsor recognition and marketing and promotional opportunities.

“Alcorn Athletics is looking forward to its collaboration with Magnolia Bluffs Casino," said Horne. “Their support will enhance the fan experiences of our students, staff, alumni and friends.” Our corporate sponsorship focus has been and remains becoming more engaged with businesses in Southwest Mississippi. This agreement affords us an opportunity to strengthen relationships in the Natchez-Adams County community and encourages others to support our efforts.”

Among those present were: Dr. Alfred Rankins Jr., president of Alcorn State University, Derek Horne, Alcorn’s athletic director, John Lewis, Alcorn’s assistant athletic director and Kevin Preston, President of Magnolia Bluffs Casino.
