School of AREAS hosts Ice Cream Social with Tyson Foods
In an effort to provide its students with opportunities for internships and equip them for successful careers, the School of Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences hosted a seminar by Rashad Delph, Tyson Foods human resource manager. The seminar was held on September 24, 2015 in the Assembly Room, of the Jesse A. Morris/W.C. Boykin Agricultural Science Building.
Delph spoke about the internships that the company offers year-round. Positions with Tyson vary in areas, such as, production, sales and marketing, accounting, and corporate office employment opportunities. As an intern for Tyson Foods, students will receive real work experience with the company that provides service to 98 of the top 100 restaurants in the United States. Tyson, is ranked the number one pizza crust and topping company. Some of their national accounts include McDonalds, Burger King, Chic-fil- A and Applebee’s.
“Internships with Tyson Foods are always available,” Delph expressed. “Many students are given the opportunity to work internationally in countries such as China and Brazil, and over 70 percent of all interns are hired for full-time employment.”
Year-round internships and cooperatives are offered in Chicago and Springlake, Arkansas. Summer internships last for three months and the company aids students with travel expenses and paid housing. The Tyson home office is based in Springdale where over 250 interns are hired each year.
