The 2016 Mississippi Association of College Student Affairs (MACSAP) Conference will be held Sunday, May 15 through Tuesday, May 17. The conference invites student affairs professionals from all over the state of Mississippi to share their expertise. This year’s theme is, “EAT: Engaging…Adapting…Transforming Students the Student Affairs Way.”
Registration and Check in will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Magnolia Bluff Casino and Hotel in Natchez, Mississippi. A welcome reception will follow at 6 p.m. The conference will resume on Alcorn’s main campus in Lorman on Monday and will conclude in the School of Business building on the Natchez campus on Tuesday.
Emanuel Barnes, vice president for Student Affairs, said that the conference will help those in student affairs to hone their abilities.
“The purpose of the conference is to provide professional development opportunities for practitioners in Student Affairs at the state’s public and private four year and two year institutions,” said Barnes.
Barnes said that an array of topics will be discussed during the conference. He acknowledged the opportunity for Student Affairs professionals at Alcorn to display their knowledge.
“There will be a range of topics centered around working with students in the areas of counseling, health, career services, Title IX, residence life and substance abuse to name a few. It is an excellent opportunity to showcase the University and the talents of its employees.”
