Alcorn’s Division of Finance and Administrative Services donate school supplies to students in Claiborne County

Every month, Alcorn State University’s Department of Finance and Administrative Services take on a service project that puts them in a position to give back to surrounding communities. This month, the Office plans to lend a helping hand to the students in Port Gibson, Mississippi.

The Office took up school supplies for the Claiborne County School District for their August 2016 Community Project. The Office will donate the supplies to all three Claiborne County schools. The donations include loose-leaf paper, composition notebooks, mechanical pencils, different color pins, highlighters, colored pencils and pocket folders.

Vice President for the Division Carolyn DuPre’ feels that giving back to others is a great way of displaying great community service.

“I believe that we should give back to the community,” said DuPre’. “This is a great way to show that Alcorn cares about the community.”

Departments at Alcorn have gained a reputation for their charity work over the years. DuPre’ applauded those at the University who gives back and encourages them to keep up the good work.

“Alcorn always remember those who are in need by lending them a helping hand. I encourage departments to continue to give back because we have been blessed to bless other people.”
