Road to a 3-peat: Braves football fans gear up for an exciting season
Football season has arrived, and Alcorn State University Braves fans are eager to come out and support our football team as they pursue their third consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship.
After successfully defeating Grambling State University in the 2015 SWAC Championship and making an appearance in the inaugural Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl, students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans are anticipating more success this year. The team’s winning ways has helped the University create an increase its brand reputation and garner more exposure with it’s five televised games this season, and let’s not forget the new video scoreboard that can rival scoreboards at any stadium in the country.
The Braves’ home opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 10 against Alabama State University at 6 p.m., which is a must division game. The Braves need our support, so lets flock to Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium and make our presence felt during the game.
Advanced ticket prices for the 2016 season are as follows: General admission will be $20, reserved seating will be $30 and purple seating will be $50. Game Day ticket prices will be $25 for general admission, $35 for reserved seating and $55 for purple seating.
This year’s individual parking prices are as follows: General (Back entrance only) will be $10; Grounds (grass and other available lots) will be $15; Premium Reserved (stadium lot) will be $30; General tailgate (grass and other available space) will be $35; Reserved tailgate (assigned by number) will be $50; VIP reserved (assigned by number) will be $60; and Bus/RV is $60 and $75 with vehicle in tow.
Keep in mind that Alcorn restricts the operation of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and drones on campus and during games. For more information on the restriction of ATVs and drones on campus, visit the Athletic Business webpage. For those tailgating, the use of caution tape or barricading space in advance is prohibited.
Students who want to cheer the Braves on should enter through Gate 3 with a valid Gold Card and head to the student section of the home side. Due to the reservation of stadium parking spaces, students are advised to leave their vehicles parked at residence halls on game days. Courtesy golf carts will be available to transport students with disabilities to the stadium.
Join us for the Thursday, Sept. 15 match against the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff for Military Day, where we will honor this country’s military. The game will begin at 6 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN 3. The game is free for military personnel and law enforcement officers who present valid identification or show up in their uniform. General admission fans are asked to sit on the visitor’s side for a full presence on ESPN.
