The 40th annual Mid-Winter Conference scheduled for February 2017

The 40th Mid-Winter Conference will be held in Memphis, Tennessee Feb. 23-26, 2017. The Memphis Chapter is preparing to give Alcornites a memorable experience. Between the Civil Rights Museum Tour, Blues & Barbeque Luncheon, Braves Family Game Night, and the Civil Rights inspired Heritage Luncheon, this conference will rise to the standards of our majestic Alcorn State University.

Our theme for 2017 is, “I Am an Alcornite: Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Present, In Tune with the Future.” This conference will showcase Alcorn’s illustrious history, our great impact and growth among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and our goals to maintain Alcorn as a multi-cultural stronghold in higher education.

This weekend will feature dynamic speakers such as Dr. Kecia D. Ashley, Class of 1992, Alcorn’s own “Mama Brave,” Mrs. Zelmarine A. Murphy, Class of 1966, and a few other surprise speakers. The weekend will also include a recruitment fair for the students of Memphis and surrounding areas. The Golden Class of 1967 will receive special recognition. And just when you think the day is done, DJ Zoom will kick-off the activities for the evening.
