The Alcorn State University Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite will be presenting Battle of The Bands Vol. 2.
The Battle of The Bands High School Showcase will take place Saturday, Oct. 22 at Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium. Gates will open at 4 p.m. and the show starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 at the gate.
This event will bring both local and out of state high school marching bands together for an event that will showcase their musicianship and marching ability. The battle will include over 15 high school marching bands.
Dr. Everson Martin, assistant director of Bands at Alcorn, is proud to offer high school bands a chance to compete to see how they measure up against others.
“This will be an awesome experience and great exposure for the students in the high school bands,” said Martin. “I’m happy that we are able to provide these students and band directors with this platform to showcase their talent.”
Dr. Renardo Murray, director of Bands at Alcorn, said that the event will give students a chance to get used to performing on a bigger stage.
“The students participating in our upcoming event are the future band musicians,” said Murray. “This opportunity is a good way to see what they are made of, and to prepare them for being a member of a college band.”
