MarketMaker Workshops Planned

April 11-12, two free Mississippi MarketMaker Workshops, will be held. The workshops are sponsored by the Alcorn State University Mississippi Small Farm and Agribusiness Center and Mississippi State University Extension Services.

April 11, the workshop will be held in the Ray Johnson Assembly Center, Extension and Research Complex, on the Alcorn State University Lorman campus.

April 12, the workshop will be held in Quitman County at the Mississippi State University Extension Office, 220 E. Main Street, Marks, MS.

Both workshops are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon.

According to Dr. Elizabeth Myles, marketing specialist, Mississippi Small Farm and Agribusiness Center, the purpose of the workshops are for local small- and limited-resource farmers and ranchers, and food-related businesses to register with MarketMaker and learn how to use this valuable tool to reach more buyers and efficiently form profitable business alliances.

“This event will be useful to a multitude of local/regional food system stakeholders including producers, food-related businesses, entrepreneurial service providers, and technical assistance providers,” said Myles.

Local small farmers and food-related businesses can register to participate in hands-on and interactive sessions. Topics will include:

  • Introduction to MarketMaker
  • Create and Update Business Profile in MarketMaker
  • Integrate Social Media Networks in Business Profile
  • Conduct Business Search in MarketMaker
  • Conduct Market Research in MarketMaker
  • Participate in MarketMaker Impact Assessment

The event is open to producers, institutional buyers, processors, distributors, and others involved in local food systems. To register visit www.tinyurl.com/MSMarketmaker or call 601.877.3947
