Alcorn State Incubator Farm to hold Field Day
Farmers, consultants, and others interested in Mississippi agriculture will have an opportunity to hear about results of current research and demonstration projects during the annual Alcorn State University Ag Field Day, June 8.
The event, free to the public, will be held at the Incubator Farm, 18600 Highway 397, Preston, MS from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Extension Program of the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.
“We expect this event to provide research-based information on alternative enterprises by, creating new marketing information, increasing various financial opportunities, and developing collaborating opportunities for farmers, researchers and extension,” said Dr. Franklin Chukwuma, interim assistant extension director.
Alcorn State researchers and extension professionals, and the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service staff, will be on hand to present current research findings, describe demonstration plot results, and respond to questions. Topics will include sustainable agriculture production of vegetable crops, soil health, farm financial management, water management, and agroforestry mushroom production practices.
