Cattle Artificial Insemination Workshop, September 14-16
The Alcorn State University Extension Program will hold a Cattle Artificial Insemination workshop, September 14-16, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at both the Extension and Research Complex, Ray Johnson Assembly Center and the Diary, Lorman campus.
According to Dr. Melissa Mason, animal science specialist, the purpose of the workshop is to teach farmers the technique of artificial insemination, learn about the synchronization of estrus methods, detection of heat methods, handling and thawing of frozen semen, and the basic reproductive anatomy ofthe male and female.
The workshop will help to educate local farmers on the importance and financial advantages of artificial insemination. The workshop will include both lectures and hands-on instruction, added Mason.
