Robert Tatum, SGA cabinet officially sworn in at inauguration ceremony

Alcorn State University senior, Robert Tatum Jr. was officially named the 92nd president of the Student Government Association (SGA) during the annual SGA Inauguration Wednesday, Oct. 3 in the Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility Gold Room.

According to Tatum, he is ecstatic to officially take his position as a student body leader. He reflected on how far he has come since his freshman year.

“Being SGA President is a surreal feeling. I’ve been working towards this for years. It comes with hard work, but it’s rewarding,” Tatum stated.

The SGA cabinet enjoys not only working together but also spending time with each other and enjoying their college experience.

“Working with my cabinet is amazing and I wouldn’t want anyone else. We play, laugh, joke around and handle business at the same time,” said Casey Larry, senior class president.

For Jacobi Holt, junior class president, balancing a leadership position while being a student can be rewarding. He encourages others to pursue student body positions in the future.

"Being a class officer keeps your plate full, and as a student, you could always have something to do. I would encourage those interested in running for SGA positions to get involved as much as they can."
