Dr. Tabitha Smith's article on tutoring published in scholarly journal

An Alcorn State University faculty member’s research on tutoring is being highlighted in a scholarly journal.

Dr. Tabitha Smith’s article, “Tutoring: An Effective Instructional Alternative for Promoting Third Grade Students’ Reading Performance,” was recently published in the “Journal of Leadership and Interdisciplinary Research in Education Vol. 1, No. 1."

Smith gives a brief description of the research she presents in her article.

“The article discusses the effects of instructional outcomes, modeling, scaffolding, and the feedback students must receive during differential instruction that benefits all students, both struggling and higher achieving students,” said Smith.

Smith serves as an assistant professor in the School of Education and Psychology.
