Educational Equity and Inclusion/Title IX to discuss domestic violence during upcoming Sexual Assault and Domestic Abuse Symposium

In honor of April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Office of Educational Equity and Inclusion/Title IX at Alcorn State University will host its annual program that sheds light on the issue.

The Office, in collaboration with the Office of Athletic Compliance, will have its Sexual Assault and Domestic Abuse Symposium Thursday, April 11 at 11:30 a.m. in the Ray Johnson Assembly Center, located in the Agriculture Extension Building. Dr. Catrina Pullum, who serves as president of PullCorp Media and Business Consulting Group, will be the guest speaker.

PullCorp Media and Business Consulting Group is a luxury boutique, public relations, media, and business-consulting firm based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Their clients are individuals in the entertainment industry, small business, and corporate America.

LLJuna Weir, director of Educational Equity and Inclusion/Title IX coordinator, said that the program is a way of empowering students with knowledge about domestic violence and other similar issues.

“We are hosting this program to inform students here on campus about domestic violence,” said Weir. “Students need to know what is acceptable and that it is okay to report things like this.”
