Alcorn senior lands position with Morgan Stanley
Alcorn State University Student Emmanuel Ufio has secured a job at one of the nation’s top investment banks.
The senior mass communications major and native of Enugu, Nigeria, accepted a full-time position with Morgan Stanley’s headquarters in New York. He will begin his career with the company after graduating in May 2022.
Landing this prestigious post is a testament to Ufio’s dedication to excellence.
“It feels good and fulfilling knowing that I have a good job waiting for me after graduating,” said Ufio. “I am looking forward to what lies ahead for me.”
Over the summer, Ufio got familiar with the company during his 10-week internship as a fund services summer analyst with Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Equities Division. The company’s atmosphere and skilled network of professionals inspired Ufio to pursue full-time employment with the company.
“The company’s culture that I experienced during my internship this past summer inspired me to pursue a career here. I had a good time. I was able to develop my skill set, gain knowledge, and grow my network tremendously.”
The internship experience positioned Ufio to participate in hands-on projects that have equipped him for his career. He’s grateful for all that he was able to learn during the summer.
“I got the opportunity to learn a lot from industry professionals about what hedge funds do and how to service their products and business. I rotated within four teams and was tasked with different projects. I carried out my projects and presented them at the end of every rotation. I had to keep up with the markets every day, so I always woke up early to read the news. It was a great experience, and I wouldn’t have traded it for anything else.”
Ufio is grateful to Alcorn for giving him the keys to success. His time serving as a Student Government Association (SGA) cabinet member during the 2020-2021 school year gave him experience in leadership, while his full scholarship took away the financial burden and allowed him to excel academically.
“Alcorn has given me the tools to keep up with deadlines, develop relationships with people, and become a leader.”
