Alcorn State University’s newly launched Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), known as The Alcorn Success Network (ASN), is an initiative that will enhance the university’s academic and career planning infrastructure.

According to SACSCOC, the QEP represents an institution’s “commitment to enhancing overall institutional quality and effectiveness by focusing on an issue or issues the institution considers important to improving student learning outcomes and/or the environment supporting student learning.”

“The QEP is expected to produce the following student learning outcomes (SLO), students will be able to create an educational plan by skillfully utilizing academic progression tools and resources made available by the QEP,” said Dr. Timothy Dupree, QEP director and assistant professor of English. “Students will be able to create a career plan by skillfully completing assigned modules and connect academic with proposed career goals. Also, they will be able to present themselves effectively, orally and in writing, in their pursuit of career opportunities.”

It is guided by two overarching goals — 1) to empower students to identify, align and pursue their educational and professional goals, and 2) to provide students with robust, coordinated, and assessable academic and career advising that include both curricular and co-curricular supports structures tailored to their specific needs to achieve graduation completion and career placement.
