The Office of Land-Grant Communications has been tasked with formulating a new plan/ strategy to implement social media engagement. Six major groups have been identified ( prospective students , current students , young alumni , traditional alumni , faculty and staff , stakeholders ) as our target audiences, and unique marketing strategies have been developed to engage each.

Social media, in general, is the collective of online communications channels dedicated to “community-based” input, interaction, content-sharing and collaboration.

Ag and Applied Sciences faces the challenge of engaging with the youngest generations and generations yet to be named, who lack behavioral data, and with whom marketers struggle to relate. Naturally, social media offers the means to stay ahead with our digital strategy and our target audiences.
