Brittany Robinson provides a voice for special needs students in her new children’s book
A student at Alcorn State University shares her love for educating special needs children in her new book.
Brittany Robinson, a senior majoring in human development and family science, published her first book, "Special Heros," in July. Robinson explains her reason for the book’s title spelling and logo on her website, https://www.specialheros.com/the-brand.
In the book, Robinson, a Texas Heights Elementary School teacher, gives readers a glimpse into what it's like teaching nonverbal autistic and developmental delayed students.
The book's inspiration came from the progress of one of Robinson's students. Watching this student and others succeed in class despite facing challenges motivated Robinson to share their stories.
"My students inspired me to cultivate a vision and bring more awareness to their success with this book," said Robinson. "They inspire me with their progress. Although they face challenges, they still exceed the goals and expectations placed on them."
Teaching has always been one of Robinson's passions. She feels privileged to have an opportunity to share her students' advances with a broad audience.
"My love for teaching children with special needs gives me this platform to show that they're capable of anything. Working with them gives me fulfillment because of the impact I make on their development. Stepping into special education has been rewarding. I love and enjoy being a voice for my students and watching their progress."
Robinson is honored to be a voice for her students in the book. She hopes to encourage others to reach their full potential.
"It feels incredible to write and publish my first children's book, especially since the subject is on something that I love. My goal is to inspire others."
