Jerome Myles, Dillon West nominated for Jackson Music Awards

Two Alcorn State University alumni are being recognized for their on-air radio presence.

Jerome Myles and Dillon West are nominees in the 44th annual Jackson Music Awards Monday, July 30 at 6 p.m. at the Downtown Marriott in Jackson, Mississippi. Myles, gospel music director for Alcorn's WPRL 91.7 FM radio station, is nominated in the Gospel Announcer of the Year category. Dillon West, who works for WTYJ 97.7 FM in Natchez, Mississippi and laboratory assistant at the J.D. Boyd Library, is nominated in the R&B Announcer of the Year category.

The Jackson Music Awards recognizes the accomplishments of Mississippi recording artists and performers in rhythm and blues and gospel music to promote the state and its talent.

Myles, who has won the award in the past, is proud of being recognized again for his radio production.

"It feels awesome to be nominated for this award," said Myles. "I'm blessed to have won it twice already, and hopefully I'm fortunate to win more in the future. I'm passionate about gospel music, so being nominated means a lot to me."

Receiving the nomination was a surprise for West. After years of experience on the radio, he's happy to earn recognition for his hard work.

"I've been at the radio station four years, and I never got a nomination, so to get one this year was surprising," said Dillon. "It feels good to be nominated, and I hope I can get enough votes to win the award."

The deadline to vote for Myles and West is Friday, July 20. Head over to https://jmaainc.comto vote for the two Alcornites.
