Department of Fiscal Affairs welcomes Torrey Turner
Fayette, Miss. native Torrey Turner is excited about the new start he has made at Alcorn State University.
“I am very honored and elated to be a part of this staff,” said Turner.
Turner was hired as the new director of property management in the Department of Fiscal Affairs in the Walter Washington Administration building on Alcorn State University’s main campus. Turner will be accountable for maintaining accurate and up to date inventory of all university properties and equipment based on established policies and procedures. He will play an important role in improving the incoming and outgoing shipment records, receiving, storage, and distribution of all purchases made by Alcorn State University in accordance to policies, procedures, and other state and federal guidelines.
Prior to this position, Turner served as director of the Waste Water Treatment Plant here at Alcorn State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2001. In 2003, he received his master’s degree in the same field.
Turner plans to be a valuable asset to Alcorn State University by being punctual and properly completing his daily tasks.
“I will be very instrumental in keeping up with the University’s inventory and equipment and maintaining good records in a timely manner.”
Vice President of Fiscal Affairs Carolyn DuPre’ applauded Turner’s work ethic. She believes he is exactly what her department needs.
“Mr. Turner is a bright, ambitious, and hard working young man. His professionalism and determination landed him this position,” said DuPre’. “He is dedicated and strives to get the job done right, even though he realizes there are obstacles to overcome. He is the type of employee we want in the Division of Finance and Administration to move the University forward.”
