Alcorn Career Services prepare for Sigma Chi Iota Career Week
Alcorn State University’s Office of Career Services is gearing up for their annual event that caters to sharpening the professional skills of students.
The second annual Sigma Chi Iota Career Week will be Monday, Feb. 6 through Friday, Feb. 10 in the James. L. Bolden Campus Union. Businesses from across Mississippi will be present to talk with students about potential career opportunities. Students will also engage in mock interviews and a motivational task force.
Joey Mitchell, director for the Office of Career Services, believes that the event is ideal for showcasing the talent and ambition of Alcorn’s students.
“Sigma Chi Iota Career Week provides the opportunity for the Office of Career Services to identify the very best students the institution has to offer, while assisting them with building meaningful relationships with our stakeholders,” said Mitchell.
Helping others find their niche is what Mitchell believes is his calling. He looks forward to assisting the students in their pursuit of careers.
“I’m always overjoyed at the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. We have great talent here at Alcorn. It’s essential that we assist our students with discovering where their skills are needed.”
The week will also include the induction of Sigma Chi Iota members. Mitchell said that joining the organization will enhance their leadership skills.
“New members will have the opportunity to become members of our leadership team and become the voice of the student body.”
