Yolanda White named Alcorn’s transportation manager

Facilities Management at Alcorn State University has added an experienced new member to its transportation team.

Yolanda Wyatt-White, who earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Alcorn in 1996, started her role as transportation manager for the department Monday, July 15.

In her new capacity, White is responsible for interacting with all departments and students to set up transportation. She is also responsible for preparing specifications for new equipment and overseeing all activities within Alcorn’s transportation department.

Prior to starting at Alcorn, White served as a certified dispatcher at the Claiborne County Human Resource Agency Public Transit. She was in charge of scheduling all routes for drivers and assuring safe travel for citizens from Claiborne and Jefferson counties. She also handled data input for monthly reports as well as all other secretarial duties.

Because of her experience and growth at the Claiborne County Human Resource Agency Public Transit under the leadership of Annie Conner, executive director for the Agency, White is confident in her ability to lead Alcorn’s transportation department. She credits her tenure with the Agency for preparing her for a prosperous future.

“I can attribute what I know to the former director and the hard work I put in at the Claiborne County Human Resource Agency Public Transit,” said White. “Becoming Alcorn’s transportation manager lets me know that I have the ability to make the necessary decisions, if needed, to move Alcorn’s transportation department forward.”

White is excited about her new opportunity, and she looks forward to playing a significant role in the department’s progress.

“I was so elated to know that I had been hired for the position. I plan to manage this department to the best of my ability while always keeping the mentality of service and respect in the forefront.”
