Dr. Archie Williams has been named associate dean of academics for Alcorn State University’s College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS).
Williams brings a wealth of experience in academic leadership, research, and student success, with a career dedicated to fostering innovation and excellence in agricultural and engineering education.
Before joining CAAS, Williams served in multiple leadership roles at Fort Valley State University in Georgia, where he was instrumental in academic administration, faculty development, curriculum enhancement, and student retention initiatives.
As professor and chair of the engineering technology department, he led accreditation efforts, expanded research initiatives, and developed interdisciplinary programs.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Williams to our leadership team,” said Dr. Dexter B. Williams believes in a collaborative leadership philosophy. His vision for the College includes advancing its strategic plan to drive academic excellence and student success, enhancing faculty and staff support, strengthening student recruitment and retention efforts, and expanding academic, research, and extension opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
Originally from Decatur, Ga., Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering technology from Fort Valley State. He later received master’s and doctorate degrees in agricultural and biological engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
His commitment to student, faculty, and staff success remains at the heart of his leadership, guided by his personal motto: “You win, I win, WE win!”
