A Brave Start | COVID-19 Update

As we continue to grapple with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff are our first priority. Alcorn State University continues to monitor COVID-19 cases on our campus, the region, and the state.

Student move-in is scheduled to begin on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Please check the move-in schedule provided by the Office of Residence Life. The University will begin class for the semester on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Masks will be required indoors and outdoors (in crowded settings or in close contact with others over a prolonged period.) We will continue to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Mississippi Department of Health guidelines and update our protocols accordingly.

The key to continuing normal operations is personal responsibility and vaccinations. We strongly encourage all faculty, staff, students, as well as student’s household and family members to continue:

  • exercising best practices of handwashing,
  • social distancing to the extent practicable; and
  • wearing face coverings.

Alcorn State University strongly encourages faculty, staff, and students to get the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots.

The Health and Disability Services Center, located in Rowan Hall, offers COVID-19 testing and all three vaccines — Johnson and Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer, free of charge. Visit Health and Disability Services or call 601-877-6460 to learn more about the available COVID-19 vaccines and how to schedule an appointment.
