Breanna Hall awarded MPE scholarship

The 2023 Linda Anglin Teacher Preparation Scholarship from the Mississippi Professional Educators (MPE) has been awarded to Alcorn alumna Breanna Hall.

In addition to the $500 scholarship, she also received a complimentary membership to MPE for her first year of teaching.

“I am grateful for the scholarship,” said Hall. “It allowed me to pay for my PRAXIS exam. I want to thank Dr. [Lashundia] Carson for encouraging me to complete the application.”

A native of Fairfield, Ala., Hall was a Dean’s List Scholar and member of Alcorn State University’s MPE student chapter, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and the International and Multicultural Students Organization.

“I am honored and humbled to have Breanna as the MPE Linda Anglin scholarship recipient,” said Carson, dean of the School of Education and Psychology and past president of MPE. “She has demonstrated her love and appreciation for children and her dedication to learning. This scholarship highlights future educators with professional knowledge, skills, and disposition, and Ms. Hall has exemplified these characteristics.”

Founded in 1979, the Mississippi Professional Educators is Mississippi’s largest and premier organization for professional educators, serving approximately 12,500 teachers, administrators, and support personnel. MPE serves members in pre-K through graduate education in both public and private institutions with the purpose of promoting better education for the children of Mississippi. MPE offers an annual scholarship to an MPE student member from each School of Education at Mississippi’s fifteen public and private institutions of higher learning.
