Alcorn leads HBCUs in Student Satisfaction

According to College Consensus’ first ever ranking of Best Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Alcorn State University is the leading HBCU in the nation in student satisfaction.

After a deeper dive into the data, it was revealed that the university received a 76.3 Student Consensus rating along with their number seven overall ranking on the website’s Best Historically Black Colleges and Universities list for 2018. Alcorn’s student review score was the highest of all HBCUs on the list.

Alcorn president Alfred Rankins was enthusiastic about the news and said, “We are very proud and pleased to see Alcorn is the leading HBCU in the nation for student experience. This score, along with our top ten ranking, and many other accolades that the University has received in the past year demonstrates that Alcorn is one of the best campuses in the country to receive a college education.”

As an aggregate ranking, College Consensus pulls together data from numerous college ranking sites, including U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal. They combine those results with the most reputable student reviews, from sites including Niche, My Plan, and Unigo, creating a Publisher Rating and a Student Review Rating. The combination of these two creates the Consensus Rating, making College Consensus a comprehensive meta-ranking.

Vice president for student affairs Emanuel Barnes concluded, “This is a collective achievement for the whole campus community – students, faculty and staff. The fact that the university is ranked number seven overall and number one in student consensus shows that, on whatever measures are used, Alcorn delivers an outstanding learning, teaching and student experience.”
