Alcorn State University has a commitment to provide a safe workplace and learning environment for our students, faculty, staff, and our community. The Environmental Health and Safety department includes Emergency Management & Response (providing campus emergency medical services and emergency planning); Fire Safety (Fire Protection Equipment testing and inspection, Fire Code Compliance and Inspections); Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA); Event Planning; Lab and Research Safety; and Environmental Compliance.

The success of the University’s environmental, health, and safety efforts depend on all of us working together and accepting personal responsibility for our own safety and the safety of those with whom we work. No job is so important and no service so urgent that we cannot take time to perform our work safely.

Our staff provides the normal emergency, safety and environmental services necessary to assure that the University provides a safe environment for our students, faculty, staff and our community. The Environmental Health and Safety staff is composed of highly qualified professionals who bring to the table experience and knowledge matching the roles they perform.
