In-State Students
Alcorn State University strives to resolve concerns and complaints fairly and promptly. To file a complaint, students must follow the University’s Student Grievance Policy outlined in the Alcorn State University Student Handbook. Students should exhaust internal complaint processes before pursuing external complaint processes. Students may submit complaints to the ASU Student Complaint Portal.
If a complaint cannot be resolved through the Alcorn State University Academic Complaint Process, students may file a complaint with the Mississippi Commission on College Accreditation (Commission or MCCA) following the MCCA Student Complaint Process. The complaint must be submitted using the MCCA Student Complaint Form within two years of the incident about which the complaint is made. Note: The MCCA Student Complaint Process does not apply to complaints regarding student grades or discipline/conduct matters.
Out-of-State Distance Education Students
Students outside Mississippi who wish to resolve a grievance regarding any ASU online course(s) should follow the University’s Student Grievance Policy, as outlined in the Alcorn State University Student Handbook.
Please note the following: The Commission will facilitate an investigation into whether the disputed matter falls within its jurisdiction. If it is outside of the Commission’s jurisdiction, the complaint may be forwarded to the appropriate agency or division.
After exhausting the institutional and MCCA student complaint resolution process, an out-of-state student taking distance education courses at ASU may file a complaint with the SARA portal agent, except for student grades or discipline/conduct matters.
