For over three and a half decades the Department of Fine Arts at Alcorn State University has sponsored what has become Mississippi's longest-running and most prestigious jazz festival. The day-long festival features performances by some of the most outstanding professional jazz musicians and university, college and secondary school jazz ensembles from throughout the United States. Highlights of the festival are the afternoon workshops and evening concerts by some of the world's greatest jazz artists.

The 38th Annual Alcorn State University Jazz Festival will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018. High school and college bands from around the country will perform in the morning and afternoon. A workshop with Chick Corea will take place in the afternoon at 4:00 pm. A Mississippi Jazz Educator's concert will take place at 7:00 pm and Chick Corea will perform at 8:00 pm. Festival activities will occur in the expansive and modern Vicksburg Convention Center, just above the scenic Mississippi River in the heart of picturesque downtown Vicksburg, Mississippi (map).
We look forward to having you at this exciting edition of the Annual ASU JazzFest, the longest-running and most successful all-jazz festival in the region, featuring outstanding performances by student groups, an educational workshop, and performances by some of the most notable jazz greats in the world.
